This article regards new issues relating to shale gas prospecting in Poland. The article presents aspects concerning gas producing borehole structures. Results of studies on new cement slurries, which prevent gas migration through fresh and hardened cement slurry, have been presented. The analysis of the selection of drilling tools and applied mechanical parameters has been provided. The issues of borehole hydraulics have been also studied. Those works included checking the effectiveness of drill cuttings delivery, calculation of flow resistance in a circulation cycle and hydraulic power used in auger nozzles. Also, the results of the analysis regarding the improvement of BHA configurations used in shale gas drilling in Poland have been presented. The operations of the so-far used assemblies were analysed by means of computer methods and compared with field studies. On that basis, recommendations relating to the BHA structure were formulated. The article also presents the results of studies on the influence of different ion hydration inhibitors upon technological parameters of drilling muds regarding drilling in clay rocks. Within the framework of new solutions, the proposal of a new structure of casing hangers was presented as well. Comprehensive analysis of improved shale gas delivery has also been supplemented with issues concerning the utilisation of negative boreholes for energy purposes.
