In this studies the G200CrNiMo4-3-3 cast steel used in fabrication of metallurgical rolls was investigated. It was shown that the microstructure of the material can be modified by a heat treatment. Results presented in this paper refer to the initial state (as cast condition) of the cast steel, which is also the initial material for the performed heat treatment. Morphology of the carbide precipitates, including the cementite precipitated along the grain boundaries of the primary austenite, hypereutectoid cementite precipitated in the Widmannstatten system, and lederburitic cementite was characterized. The results obtained for mechanical and fractographic properties of the G200CrNiMo4-3-3 cast steel were also presented. Furthermore, the values of fracture work in the impact test, fracture toughness (KIc), and wear resistance were calculated. The crack pathway together with the hypereutectoid cementite fraction role in its development, was presented. Results shown in this paper contribute to understanding of the influence of the heat treatment on the microstructure and properties of the tested G200CrNiMo4-3-3 cast steel. © 2015 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
